Please join us in celebrating the long-awaited and much-anticipated launch of Hair Ties For Guys, in our favorite neighborhood, during our favorite time of year.
You’ve waited until the last possible minute. There is a party tonight, or tomorrow, or both, you’ve thought about it casually 15 times. What do you have to show for all that great thinking? Neither a costume or a plan. Good work.
Lucky for you we’ve whipped up this handy list of last minute Halloween costumes for men with long hair.
Head fakin’ or shakin & bakin’, these ‘fros, braids and manes are sinking buckets and driving lanes. We bring you the finest all-time longhairs in the NBA.
A few weeks ago we posted The Essential Hair Tie Review For Men, providing an overview and evaluation of a dozen styles of hair ties. The conclusions of this study called attention to a noticeable lack of hair tie options for men.
The truth is, we realized long ago there was something missing in the world. There’s a community out there that is not being served, in fact it’s being ignored.
It’s finally here. NFL kickoff. When everyone’s team has a shot at the Super Bowl; when hopes and spirits are high; when productive Sundays are abandoned for seven consecutive hours of commercial-free, non-stop, whip-around coverage on the RedZone channel, interrupted only for intermittent sprints to the bathroom and 90 seconds to heat up a pair of Hot Pockets, capped off with a dramatic compilation of every single touchdown of the day, wrapping up just in time for a 30-minute break before Sunday Night Football kickoff between two teams you don’t care about, but you’re going to spend an additional three hours watching anyway.
Danny Ramirez is a San Diego local who works right across the street from our headquarters. As you can tell from the picture he has extreme hair, 13 inches of it to be exact, and that hair goes in all directions except down. For him the only solution to the madness is dreadlocks. So as he embarks on his journey we will be there by his side every step of the way. This is the first edition in a series documenting Danny’s process, using various forms of media to showcase what it really takes to grow a full head of proper dreadlocks.
My art studio is in the same building as The Longhairs’ headquarters. I knew them back when their hair was merely shoulder length, and the idea for the Longhairs was in its inception.
We’ve met more men with long hair in the past three months than in both of our lifetimes combined. Since Long Manes & Candy Canes we’ve been handing out referral cards to every longhair we see. We started with a box of 2000. Now we’re down to 50, meaning there are 1950 longhairs referral cards out there in the world. Hopefully they’ve fallen into the right hands.
If you’re reading this, you already know: it’s Hair Whip Wednesday. Part of The Longhairs core mission is to celebrate long hair on men, and what better way than to dedicate a day to this classic longhair signature move: the hair whip. Gearing up for Hair Whip Wednesday, the The Longhairs hit the streets of San Diego on a strategically targeted tactical dropzone longhairs recruitment strike operation in the longhair hotbed town of Ocean Beach. Our mission: identify and approach as many longhairs as possible and convince them to perform “4-6 aggressive hair whips” for Hair Whip Wednesday.
Long hair might not fly in a job interview or with your girlfriend’s parents. So where is long hair acceptable? Where do the locks fly freely? Refreshingly, such havens exist. Not only are they longhair friendly, you actually get the benefit of the doubt in these 9 places where your long hair gets you street cred.
You might not have noticed before. When you had short hair it rarely caught your attention. Now you notice. Flowing, ponytail’d, tied up or braided, you see other guys with long hair. You might even wonder things like, how long has he been growing it? What kind of hair ties are those? What kind of conditioner does he use? Well…even if you don’t ask yourself those questions, now that you have long hair you probably notice other guys with long hair. What do you do when you see them? Until now, maybe you’ve done nothing. But the truth is, we are a community. Longhair Godfather Bill Choisser estimates 2%-5% of the adult male population has long hair. That’s only 2-5 out of every 100 guys. But so do other things. Straight or curly, neat or messy, tied up or loose and flowing, we’ve made the choice to grow our hair. …
For 12 years the Longhairs have embarked on an annual New Year’s adventure and celebration at mountain locations across the western United States. We call this trip The Experience, or EXP. On this 12th consecutive year we write you from our mountain lodge in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, at 9,500 feet, 9 degrees, in a snowstorm. With good friends and fellowship we reflect on the year behind us and look forward to 2015: the year of The Longhairs.
On this fine Christmas Day we pay tribute to 3 of our favorite Longhairs associated with Christmas. We didn’t actually identify more than three Christmas Longhairs, but it’s highly doubtful any others would crack the top three. By all means, if you disagree, please do share.
Obviously, long hair is awesome, and for countless reasons. One reason you might not realize is that long hair at high speed is outstanding. Literally—it stands out from your head because of inertia and centrifugal force acting upon it. Short hair at high speed, on the other hand…is just short hair. It looks the same at every speed, which is pretty boring to begin with.
