Be A Boss

In the absence of independent empirical research, we’d betcha a pack of hair ties there are a lot more bosses out there with long hair than ever before—even in the last three years. If true this would suggest blog post #11, the subject of this here Fireside Reading, was more relevant when it was published on February 5, 2015.

"Why Your Boss Has Short Hair" alludes to why bosses and positions of authority have historically had short hair. While these days we might see more bosses with long hair, and a wider acceptance of long hair in general, there’s yet a pervasive cultural stigma that can be traced across most slices of society.

It’s the same reason these boys have been bullied and banned from school. Why this guy gets razzed at work for rocking a high ball. And why men often believe they have to cut their hair to get a job.

While we’re encouraged by emerging stories of long hair wins, we’re a long way from hair equality, whether it be education, employment or cultural perceptions in general.

That’s why we’re here. To advocate for men with long hair, with The Longhairs Professional Series, dear boss letters and respect for the combover. We’re here to disrupt the system.

So what’s the deal? Why does your boss have short hair?

Let El Chuckarino tell ya all about it, here on The Longhairs Podcast, Episode 47: A Fireside Reading of "Why Your Boss Has Short Hair."
