25 Years of Healing Young Hearts
In November 2025 The Longhairs’ staff traveled to Michigan to attend the 20th Children With Hair Loss Charity Ball.
Founded in 2000, this year marked the 25 year anniversary of Children With Hair Loss, our charity partners who provide custom, quality hair prosthetics to kids with any form of medically-related hair loss, 100% free of charge.
As of this year, they have now helped over 10,000 children and their families.
10,000 Acts of Service
When you consider what it actually takes to serve one child, the milestone is truly astonishing.
For every single recipient, the Children With Hair Loss staff and volunteers must receive an application, contact the parents, ensure the required information has been provided, determine the most appropriate type of hair prosthetic, confirm the measurements and specifications to the wig manufacturer, and arrange the delivery.
Not only do they provide the hair replacements, but complete hair care kits, plus ongoing support and education to every child until age 21.
This is all done on a charity budget, with the help of donors, volunteers, and the hair replacement manufacturers at Jon Reneau.
10,000 Kids With 10,000 Stories
Each and every one of those 10,000 kids went through their own experience with hair loss: the shock of losing their hair, many times accompanied with a frightening diagnosis, the often humiliating feelings of going to school, the bullying, the unanswerable question of, “why is this happening to me?”
And every one of those children, in receiving their very own quality hair replacement, were offered a sense of normalcy, confidence, and hope.
In this year’s Charity Ball video we tried to capture just a few of these stories from the kids themselves, their parents, and from the perspective of the Children With Hair Loss staff.
