He can be a little awkward from time to time, but that’s exactly why we love him. He also happens to be powering through awkward stage hair. As the lead designer of Hair Ties For Guys we had to learn how he’s pushed through this far. Listen in as we rap about his journey through the awkward stage and what’s to come for Hair Ties For Guys.
You’ve heard of Super Mario Brothers. You’ve heard of Gilligan’s Island. You probably haven’t heard their theme songs played with intense heavy metal drumming. Until now. That’s how professional drummer Joey Muha has carved out a brand for himself, and we got to rap with him in this episode of The Longhairs Professional Series. From Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to The Little Mermaid, Joey’s performances are a superstorm of percussion and hair whips.
In this episode of The Longhairs Professional Series we rap with Dave Littlechild, a successful business professional from the United Kingdom who’s lived around the world building businesses, jumping out of planes and making shit happen.
In this installment of the Longhairs professional series we had a video chat with Oskar Örn, a professional Swedish parkour athlete, freerunner and competitor on Sweden Ninja Warrior. Listen to this shocking interview.

This week we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, or a happy holiday whatever you may celebrate, even if it’s just celebrating life.
For us, December and the approaching winter (here in the northern hemisphere), is a special time.
A few weeks ago we posted The Essential Hair Tie Review For Men, providing an overview and evaluation of a dozen styles of hair ties. The conclusions of this study called attention to a noticeable lack of hair tie options for men.
The truth is, we realized long ago there was something missing in the world. There’s a community out there that is not being served, in fact it’s being ignored.
“Every guy with long hair has a reason for it. Maybe it’s a statement, or a story, maybe it’s about his character and who he is. Maybe he just doesn’t like getting his hair cut. But there’s something about it for all of us.”
My art studio is in the same building as The Longhairs’ headquarters. I knew them back when their hair was merely shoulder length, and the idea for the Longhairs was in its inception.
“Cry in the dojo, laugh on the battlefield,” an old proverb that pops into my mind as I lay on the jiu-jitsu mat with my long hair dripping sweat into my eyes. The warrior that coined that phrase must have been a longhair as he understands all too well the struggles of training with a mane. This made me wonder, from mixed martial artists to football players, how many professional athletes chose to rock the establishment and don streaming locks despite the obvious disadvantage?
Scientists, some of the most respected, prestigious, and forward thinking individuals in society. They broaden our horizons, give us new angles, and make our lives easier through invention and innovation. However, throughout history, most fail to acknowledge that many of these geniuses rocked absolutely killer manes. From Albert Einstein to Archimedes, these legends graced us not only with their scientific prowess, but their genius hair.
Chances are you know at least one man or boy with long hair. He might be a family member, boyfriend or husband, a casual acquaintance, or just a Facebook friend you don’t remember ever meeting. It could be someone you’ve known for years who always had short hair, but recently made the life decision to grow it out. You probably haven’t thought much about this guy’s long hair, or his struggle. That’s because there are things you simply don’t think about unless you are a man with long hair.
Alex conquered the Persian Empire, William charged the English lines, and Bartholomew raised the jolly roger. Of the great warriors through ancient, medieval and contemporary history, some fought for freedom, some for honor and glory, others in the name of tyranny. Whatever their motive, each of these warriors had one thing in common: they graced the fields of battle with long tresses, streaming locks and flowing manes. These captains, chiefs and commanders represent the greatest longhair warriors of all-time.
It’s no secret long hair on men is considered “unprofessional.” There are plenty of jobs out there where you can’t have long hair. To be a man with long hair is to have limited vocational options. That’s why we created the Longhair Professional Series. It’s purpose: We aim to reinforce the belief for every longhair: “Yes, I can be a longhair and be a professional/be taken seriously/make a good living. I don’t have to be ‘conventional.’”
San Diego, California February 20, 2015 For Immediate Release The Longhairs have become aware of a video, “Stop the Knot – Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues,” released on YouTube Feb 18, 2015. The Longhairs aren’t particularly fond of the ‘top knot’ hair style with shaved sides. If you’re going long, go long all the way bro. Still, a modest head nod for at least growing some of your hair.
There’s an excellent chance your boss has short hair. Most bosses do. Your boss’ boss has short hair, and the people who have been telling your boss what to do for decades have all had short hair. It’s no question longhairs are discriminated against in the world of the professional workforce. In this case the guy had to show he was suffering from a body image disorder just to get his job back. Long hair limits your upward mobility. It’s hard to be a boss with long hair.
It’s no secret long hair on men is considered “unprofessional.” There’re a lot of jobs out there—most jobs—where you can’t have long hair. Why? Leaders, politicians, professionals, royalty, even warriors have had long hair for centuries. Remember William Wallace, guys, with the spears and the English cavalry charging? Right. Only in the past century has long hair on men become unprofessional. In today’s day and age, you can’t expect to apply for most professional-type jobs with long hair and be taken seriously.
